When Washington D.C. alderman Mays Gilliam (Chris Rock) loses his job at the same time as the death of his party's front-runner in the upcoming presidential election. He is now chosen to run for president of the United States. When he needs to choose a running mate, he thinks of no one better than his bumbling brother Mitch Gilliam (Bernie Mac). Along the way, he finds obstacles that face him to make a huge decision. Finding out he was chosen to lose so he decides to win the people's votes at no cost! While he campaigns, his social climbing ex-girlfriend, Kim (Robin Givens), who wants him back because he's found more success than before.
